Urban India generates more than 1,00,000 tonnes of waste every day. Mumbai alone generates an astounding amount of 8,000 to 10,000 tonnes of daily waste. In spite of huge expenditures by municipal bodies, the city is equipped to handle only 10-15% of its waste, thereby leaving 90% of the sector unorganized.

Waste management is still a non-cyclic system of collection/disposal, either to dumpsites or incineration chambers. While the decomposition of biodegradable/wet waste generates huge amounts of the most harmful greenhouse gases, only negligible parts of non-biodegradable/dry waste get recycled. Our vision of creating a purposeful venture which benefits both the planet and the economy. The social enterprise’s vision is based on the basic rules of sustainable waste management, which is ‘Be Responsible – Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.’

Green India Eco Service’s focus is on building a socially and ecologically sustainable as well as financially profitable decentralized waste handling units targeted at households, corporate houses, townships, school and college campuses. For corporate houses, the focus is mainly on a collection of dry waste and further sorting and selling it to recyclers. In exchange for the dry waste collected, customized products like notepads, envelopes made of recycled paper are supplied to the clients. For housing societies, townships, school and college campuses, both biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste is managed.
